The Solutioneers

Meet the Solutioneers! 12-year-old best friends, coders, and budding inventors who plan to make a major difference in the world using their skills and knowledge in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math). At the centre of the group is the strong-willed and passionate leader, RILEY. Once a troublemaker who had her fair share of run-ins with the school principal, her life changed forever the day she was partnered with two unique and special tutors – an offbeat animal-loving robotics buff named GWEN and a cosplay-clad designer named AVA. With their help, guidance, and friendship, Riley discovered how fun, and incredible STEAM could be, and all the cool things she could do with her knowledge. The girls form a club and vow to use their collective smarts to become real agents of positive change right from their very own tricked-out storage room-turned-makerspace: The Hideout. Riley, Ava, and Gwen can’t believe their luck when they find out about a STEAM SPEAK online challenge, asking interested contestants to imagine what a cool invention could look like 50 years in the future. With their combined strengths and skills, they should be a shoo-in, right? Wrong! When the new girl and expert coder KAT shows up with fresh ideas and some out-of-the-box thinking, the group dynamic is shaken, yet ultimately Kat becomes the secret ingredient for the girls’ success. The team gains a fourth member...and a new best friend and fellow Solutioneer! Riley, Ava, Gwen, and Kat show audiences just how revolutionary knowledge can be, especially for young girls starting out in the STEAM world. The Solutioneers will inspire young viewers, and show them that STEAM is empowering, creative, and super cool. The Solutioneers also features a young, multi-racial cast, helping young viewers from all backgrounds see themselves represented both on screen, and in the world of STEAM. The Solutioneers is perfect for girls who are at an age where they are starting to lose interest in STEAM, either as a result of peer pressure, a lack of available role models, or simply not enough accessible learning content. The Solutioneers sets out to help address these issues by presenting characters, storylines, and scenarios that feature empowered and engaged girls using different areas of STEAM to solve challenges and engage with opportunities in school and in their personal lives, while also featuring strong friendships and relatable plotlines that will appeal to all audiences!
